Pictures for magazine.

This photo is a potential photo that i will add to my double page spread as a smaller image, due to the image showing character of the grime audience but nothing else is happening also there is a large shadow behind the character which would have to be edited out if this was to become a large/main image. Also The image is slightly blurry so wouldn't be a good option.
This image is the photo that I am going to use for my front cover because the model is centralized, the lighting is fair and easy to work with so colour contrasting would not be a problem, I will use simple black and white fonts for my masthead and additional text including and advertisement for a giveaway.
I chose to take this picture as it was a very different photo that I hadn't seen used before, because 'Patrick' is turned to his side this shows that the camera shot is indirect but this could work well when creating a double page spread. Although i think positively about this photo i most probably wont be using this due to the large shadow mirroring 'Patrick'.

This is a full on side portrait of 'Patrick' that i will most definitely be using for the first page of my double page spread as the large main image. This is because i want to create the effect that the main character is looking/gazing toward the second page, of which will have a written article, interview and title/nae dedicated to him.

Finally this photograph will also be used during the creation of my double page spread, i will use this on the second page as a smaller image just to give the audience a view of what the typical grime artist looks like, also the picture is shot in the same location as the side portrait picture but as a front straight direct gaze image.

Location of Photo's.

I need a rough plan/variety of ideas on where I could potentially take my photos for my magazine, this could give me a brief overview of location.

Image result for little tLocation 1.
Estate.
An estate would be an ideal location because it shares similar features to a town centre regarding that both are "hang out" places for people who listen to grime and meet with there friends, an estate is more quiet and less publicised so is usually the backdrop of their music videos.

Location 2.
Town center.

Image result for stormzy in japanAn example of a good location would be Ryde or Sandown town centre preferably when its dark outside (night) as this gives a dim affect which merges with grime media. My reason for this being because grime is also known as street music, and the location would be ideal for this genre as lots of music magazines / videos share the same setting as using the streets as the location.

Location 3.
Anywhere. ie, House, Streets.

This would just be a plain background with an image on the foreground, would be edited in or just a default straight forward colour such as black or white, however the downside to this would be that it may be quite dull and boring.

Potential Masthead.

 Potential Masthead choices:

As I decided that "sound" was going to be the masthead I will be using, I decided to go hunting for the font that I will be using for my chosen magazine. The websites i used consisted of Dafont.com, Photoshop.

First:
The first font I chose was a random/default Photoshop font that i slightly edited, the shape of the 'D' was slightly adjusted. GIving a bold and stand out effect.

Second:
My second font was from an online source called Dafont and would be used on my magazine along to top of the page stretching from the left all the way to the right hand side.

Third:
This chosen font would be ideal and unique because it is very bold, eye catching and easy to read. Also would stretch easily from right hand to left hand side.

Magazine Masthead Ideas.

Magazine Masthead Ideas.

Deciding the masthead for my chosen magazine:
My masthead would have to be relevant to the genre of grime, so for example single words that are commonly used in the "grime scene" also known as slang  or words that are less commonly known for what people think, example being "Peak".

Sound-
Sound is a typical word used for both the music industry aswell as a typical word used in day to day teenage lanaguge(slang) "sound" typically a positive word meaning for something being good or acceptable. As its related to music this means that it would be the perfect masthead to use as sound as a word would be a great idea.

AUX-
Aux would be an ideal masthead to use for my magazine because a common phrase used is "pass me the aux cable" meaning that the person saying that would like to be in control of the music/song that is played.

Fresh!-
Fresh! is another example of slang that is commonly used when something is particularly slick or looks nice an example of this would be how a person dresses or an item of clothing they have. This could also be an ideal masthead that could be used.

My Chosen Genre.

Chosen Genre.

The Genre that i have chosen to do is Grime, this is because its a genre of music that i have recently been listening to regularly, this therefore as a whole potentially being an easier option as there will be more information that i know of about grime as apposed to a genre such as rock.

What is Grime?
Grime is in the indie genre of music rather than mainstream this is due to the existence as grime has only been around since early 20th century and was based only in London for a majority until recent years (2010). Due to the recent increase in popularity id say that grime is becoming more mainstream as a genre. Grime is a more modernised type of rap and stereotyped for audiences such as chavs, popular grime artists consists of:
Stormzy, Jme, Dizzie rascal, Lethal Bizzle, Tempa T and many more.

Examples of Magazine.

Audience of Grime:
The gender of grime is mainly aimed at males as apposed to females  however some females may still listen to grime, For my magazine I will have to use a large image of a figurative grime artists such as Skepta or Stormzy, People who usually listen to grime as a genre would be most teenagers and most ethnicity's, However more people of the black ethnicity listen to grime in general. Overall the audience I will target will be aimed toward the lower/ middle class sectors.

Magazine Double Page Deconstruction 2nd.

Image result for nicki minaj double page spread
The Masthead is in a big and bold font in a bright colour (bright pink), this is because it is the name of the artist that the interview is focused on, "Nicki Minaj". The bright pink colour specify that this could be for a more female audience or seen as feminine.
The picture of Nicki Minaj is very effective because it will interact with and attract her fans , The denotation of the colour scheme is simple three colours, black, pink and white. After some research on Nicki Minaj i found out that her fans are known as the "Barbz"this is a referral to Barbie dolls hence why the background and foreground consists of these colours. The bottom right hand side states a quote that Minaj once said, it is extracted from the interview to attract her audience and have a deeper meaning to her life story as it could be a mystery to her fans. The quote connotes that Minaj has a conclusion about how her life has changed dramatically within recent years. The main image is seen as a mid shot with a direct gaze, This magazine cover could appear to the male gaze as Minaj is seen as a sexual figure in the eyes of some men, this therefore potentially attracting a larger audience.
The genre of this magazine is a pop/rap magazine because these are the teo genres that Nicki Minaj is commonly known and successful for.
Overall i'd say that this double page spread is well designed and unique because of the style/layout that was used as it was intriguing to view for any viewers, it was different but successful.

Double Page Spread Deconstruction 1st.

Image result for double page spread
The large image is the only image on the double page spread therefore it stands out as it is the first thing your eyes are drawn to. As the image is a mid head on shot it could be representing the article being very personal due to him gazing right at his audience. The smoke also links to the "How High?" masthead due to him having a reputation of smoking, could also connote that thee reader has an impression that they are in the same room as him. The masthead "How High?" gets the audiences attention as it is in bold and stands out giving an opportunity for the audience to further read a out him, the information about the artists is below in the lengthy but quite brief article. It could be trying to be personal to the audiences to get them to read and feel like they are talking to him personally. The layout of the page is structured simply as there a large image used on the right hand side, with text describing and with mentions of Wiz Khalifa. Also there is a masthead, strap-line and an introduction. The colours used in the article are relative to the artists these colours consist of  Black and Yellow which are very unique as Wiz Khalifa wrote and produced an incredibly famous song called "Black and Yellow".
Overall the format/design of the double page spread is fairly standard and would be seen as a normal design.
